Craigen Bowen Memorial Scholarship
The 2024 Craigen Bowen Scholarship application is now closed. Recipient/s will be announced at the annual Holiday Party in December.
Craigen Bowen was a beloved member of the Boston climbing community and a tireless volunteer who served as Director of the Rock Program, Editor of The Crux, a Mountaineering Committee member, and a mentor to countless climbers.
The Craigen Bowen Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a community member who is a promising beginner in their first few years of climbing, or otherwise eager to advance in rock or ice climbing skills, safety/rescue or instructional skills, or other mountaineering endeavors. Recipients will use the funds for formal mountaineering-related instruction offered by an established organization or guide. Past awardees have used the funds for skills and safety trainings such as WFR or SPI, instructional courses such as the AMC Ice Program and Rock Program, and clinics with professional guides. Funds may be awarded to cover part or all of a program cost, depending on availability of funds and other factors. Preference is given to applicants who demonstrate a desire to use their skills to give back to the AMC community through service or instruction.
Applications will be accepted until October 15, 2024. Winners will be notified in late November and will be presented with their awards at the BCMC Holiday Party in December.
Please limit responses to 250 words or less.
All applications will be reviewed by the BCMC Scholarship Subcommittee.
Only 1 submission per person per year is permitted.
