2020 Rock Program New Belayers Night

We will hold New Belayers Night on Thursday, April 2nd from 7:00-9:00pm at REI Framingham located at 375 Cochituate Rd, Framingham, MA 01701.

Directions, Transit, and Parking

REI Framingham is about 45 minutes west of Boston by car. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to get there via transit. As the date approaches, carpools will be set up for all attendees.

There should be plenty of parking in the lot in front of the store.

what to bring

Please bring the following to New Belayers Night:

• Harness

• Practice rope

What To Expect

After everyone has checked in, we will break up into small groups. Students will learn how to tie into their harness, perform the standard safety checks, and belay a toprope climber. Students will also have opportunities to practice knots and toprope belay technique in preparation for Belay and Anchors Weekend.

Note that we do not plan to cover lead belaying on this night, though it is part of Belay and Anchors Weekend.
