2024 Rock Program Application

We will admit students to the 2024 Rock Program by application. This application will consist of a number of short answer and multiple-choice questions and should not take long to complete. Applications must be submitted by filling out a form on this website that will be opened up after Info Night on February 28th, 2024. There is no rush to get your application in - as long as your application is submitted by the application deadline, you will receive full consideration for the program.

Our admissions committee will review all applications and decide whom to admit. We will also establish a waitlist; we are usually able to admit several people from the waitlist each year. We apologize in advance if we are unable to admit you this year. Our program is very popular, and we are only able to accommodate a limited number of students.

If you want to take the program with a spouse, friend, etc., you can link your applications together. We will observe these groupings during the admissions process; in other words, two people with linked applications will either both be accepted or both not accepted. You must all list each other's names to link your applications together. No preference will be given to either solo applications or linked applications.

Application and Registration Process

Applications are due no later than Monday, March 4th at noon.

We expect to announce admission/waitlist decisions by Tuesday, March 12th.

If you are accepted to the program, you will need to register and pay the program fee by 11:59pm on Monday, March 18th.

Application Questions

The application is intended to be short and not take too much time to complete, yet provide us enough information to make admissions decisions.

There will be a bunch of questions that should be straightforward to answer - regarding your background, information for planning purposes, etc.

The questions you should give some thought to are the four short-answer questions listed below.  Your answers to these questions on the application will be limited to 500 characters per question. Please take the time to answer the questions thoroughly and honestly, and feel free to let your personality shine through!

  • Why do you want to take the Rock Program? What do you hope to get out of the program?

  • What outdoor activities do you regularly do?

  • Describe your climbing experience, if any.

  • AMC Boston Mountaineering is a volunteer-run organization that supports the Boston climbing community. Please describe volunteer/community service experience you have (if any), and what role(s) you envision yourself holding in the Boston climbing community?
